St. Petersburg

Very busy city. Traffic gridlock.  Sunny nice day though.

Lots of castles and such.

Partial posts

I am putting pictures up with little to no text, in the hopes of staying organized without being bumped off the site too many times as I try to update. Text to be added some other time.

Gdansk Poland

Old Gdansk was almost completely destroyed in WW2. The rebuild was done so that the building facades look as they did before, but the interiors are contemporary. What looks like 3 or 4 narrow houses on the outside might be one big office building inside.

Berlin

Train trip into town. David went; I stayed on the ship.

Brandenburg gate:

Parking lot below which was Hitler's bunker, where he and Eva Braun Lille's themselves. The German government doesn't want to make a big deal of it. Don't want it to become a shrine of sorts for neo-Nazi types.

Some sections of the Berlin Wall were left
in place, and artists have painted them:

Aalborg Denmark

The ship wifi and the blogger program are both giving me trouble recently. I keep getting knocked off, with nothing saved. So any wonkiness on the finished product here is either due to the internet issues or my frustration at trying to overcome the constant bump-offs. (Just saying)
Aalborg is a really nice little city. Northern Denmark, in Jutland.

Old post office. See the homing pigeon doors?

Umbrellas of Aalborg:

Stavanger Norway

Lovely small city. Gamle stavanger (old area of town) is mostly wooden houses, and clearly gardening is a competitive sport . Wow.
