Pictures

I've added a few pictures but they do not appear to be posting. Maybe they'll upload when we get somewhere the ship wifi signal is stronger

Kinderdijk Netherlands

Traditional way to keep the water out if low lying areas. And yes, windmills are still used. The one with full sail up is running now. The one with bare poles, and about a dozen more, are held in reserve and used as needed. Each windmill is lived in by the person responsible for it, and their family.

And then there's this way. Not sure exactly what's going on here. I slept too late for the walking tour. Big screws having something to do with moving the water to where they want it.

Viking Eistla

Docked in Kinderdijk. This is maybe half its length. I couldn't find a place to stand to capture the whole thing. They say longboat, they're serious about that.

Lobby area:

180 passengers.  Very different from a regular cruise ship. No soaring spaces, there's what they/we need, and it's nicely done, but somewhat precision-sized. I really like it.

Our stateroom has what they call a French balcony. Sliding door but no real balcony. So a floor to ceiling window, basically. It's the midrange size. There are also rooms with real balconies, and the lower level has rooms with only a high small window. This is good. French balcony is perfect. The room itself is good too. Friends who have boated or rv'ed would be fine with the compact size, but others might think it a little tight.
(Picture won't load...can anyone see it? I can't)
