We are in Germany! The flight over seemed easier than I had remembered from last year. The Frankfurt aiport was easier to maneuver than Rome was... Maybe just because it was earlier in the day and less crowded though.
We found the train station in the airport, and took the train here to Bacharach. The transfer train was a bit tricky- there were fewer helpful signs than I had expected. But we got on the right train, and tomorrow as we train to Trier to meet up with the Rick Steves tour group we will be old hands at it.
Lettie's Pension is where we are staying. Our first interesting, locally owned and run, place to stay. So far so good.

Hi Are you using a German phrase boo yet?? Glad the trip went well. We got the page from Anita and will frack your progress. Just about time for dinner here.5:15 PM. Must be ten or 11 there. Mom and Dad. Ican't edit my mistakes!
ReplyDeleteI watched a few Rick Steves videos and a youtube video of a Lettie's Pension. Looks like a great place to start your journey with a good night sleep away from the trains, and Lettie sounds quite interesting. I look forward to hearing about it. Happy trails!
ReplyDeleteYa, Lettie was great, and train noise nonexistent. We walked over to the train station and bought tickets to Trier, and are heading back soon with our bags. Our credit card was not being accepted by the ticket machine, so we needed to use some of our Euros... Hate it when that happens, but we were ready in case it did. Perhaps when we join up with our tour guide this afteernoon we can get some hints on automatic ticket purchases.
